Additional Details

This is one of the three photographs taken by Hesler in Springfield, Illinois on June 3, 1860 while Lincoln was campaigning for the presidency. Of the three studies, Lincoln said, "That looks better and expresses me better than any I have ever seen; if it pleases the people, I am satisfied."
