ALEXANDRE HOGUE
Cap Rock Ranch.

Lithograph on cream wove paper. 175x300 mm; 7x11 3/4 inches, full margins. Signed and titled in pencil, lower margin. Published by Associated American Artists, New York. A very good impression of this scarce lithograph.

Hogue (1898-1984) was born in Missouri and studied briefly at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1919) before moving to Dallas for employment as an illustrator at the Dallas Morning News. He took up painting in the 1930s and soon developed a loyal following for his Southwestern and Midwestern landscapes of the Dust Bowl era. From 1945 to 1963, he was the head of the art department at the University of Tulsa.
