ANDERS ZORN
My Models.

Etching, 1916. 197x150 mm; 8x6 inches, full margins. Second state (of 2). Signed in pencil, lower right. A superb, dark impression of this scarce print, with warm plate tone.

Zorn (1860-1920) admired and collected Rembrandt's etchings and, like many painter-printmakers of the late 19th-century etching revival, considered him the standard on which to base his graphic work. Nudes comprise the most significant portion of Zorn's 289 etchings. As in this work, he frequently depicted his etchings of nudes in outdoor settings around the sea or lakes and thereby was able to render the reflection of their forms in the water in an impressionistic manner. Asplund 273; Hjert/Hjert 277.
