Splendeurs et misères des courtisanes, is an 1838–1847 novel by French novelist Honoré de Balzac. Inspired by the text artist and photographer Andrew J. Epstein executed a series of woodblock prints for Stompers Gallery, New York City.

Since the late-1960s, he has photographed LGBTQ communities and events in Chicago, New York any Los Angeles. He has also worked as an art director and graphic designer for numerous publications. He participated in a 1978 exhibition at Stompers Gallery with Tom of Finland and Etienne.
