Additional Details

In 1986 Andy Warhol illustrated the picture book Vanishing Animals by Dr. Kurt Benirschke of the San Diego Zoo. The collaboration brought awareness to the looming specter of extinction faced by some lesser-known endangered animals. Warhol returned to the subject of his Endangered Species series, and created 16 new prints for the project, including Douc Langur, of which the current lot is likely a unique proof impression.
