In his Ads portfolio, Andy Warhol returned to the theme of consumerism. The New Spirit is based on an image of Donald Duck copyrighted by Walt Disney Productions from the same-titled 1942 animated short film produced by Disney and the US Department of the Treasury as part of war propaganda.
