Additional Details

This is one of six different screenprints that comprised the Sex Parts series by Warhol. Created at the height of his celebrity and career, these explicit, close-up and sexual images are a departure for Warhol, who up to this point had focused more on the appropriation of celebrity portraits and iconic advertising images. Warhiol described these images as "landscapes," instead of nudes, which reflected his interest in the human body as a site of artistic exploration and discovery. Feldman 176.
