Additional Details

After achieving worldwide recognition as a painter and filmmaker, Warhol's focus turned to printmaking with the establishment of Factory Additions. Through his new publishing enterprise, Warhol was able to scale his concept of using the mass market in image making. His Factory Additions screenprints were printed based on images of his most well-known paintings, including Marilyn Monroe and Campbell's Soup I and II, and provided Warhol's following with less expensive alternatives to his paintings.

Warhol's Campbell's Soup I and II portfolios were based on his original 1962 painting series. The screenprints were first exhibited in 1969 at Castelli/Whitney Graphics, New York from March 8-April 11, 1969, and remain among his most iconic images.
