A nearly identical drawing to the current work, done in red and black chalk, by Francesco Bartolozzi, sold at Sotheby's, New York, January 8, 1991, lot 74. This work was a study for a stipple engraving Affection and Innocense made by Peltro William Tomkins after Bartolozzi and published at London in 1785.
