Red chalk on cream laid paper. 260x400 mm; 101/4x181/8 inches. Ex-collection private collection, New York; from Sotheby's, New York, January 28, 1998, lot 246 (as "after Bronzino").

The current work is a close copy of a painting done by Bronzino for a harpsichord cover for Guidobaldo II della Rovere, late 1520s. The scene at the left background shows Minerva Watching Apollo Torment Marsyas which is also taken from the Della Rovere harpsichord cover.
