Brewster (1870-1952) was the daughter of noted marine and landscape artist William Trost Richards. She studied in New York with John La Farge and William Merritt Chase. Brewster and her husband, professor William Tenney Brewster, lived in Scarsdale and traveled extensively--through Europe and Northern Africa--where she made numerous oils and watercolor studies.
