"The Los Angeles Gay Community Services Center made great efforts to show its patrons that it not only understood what gay sex could entail but that it was neither squeamish nor embarassed by it. On the contrary, the center embraced the gay liberation notion of gay love as politcially powerful and beautiful, with gay sex serving as the enactment of that beauty and political power. This celebration of and frankness about gay sex permeated the center, appearing in posters, programming and outreach efforts" (Before Aids, p. 95).
