"1894 to 1914, was the 'Belle Epoque' for the Compagnie Générale de Navigation. The Compagnie had command of ten boats and two bridges. Each ship could carry between 1,000 and 1,600 passengers. They were named Geneva, Montreux, General-Dufour, Vevey, Italie, Suisse, Valais, Savoie, Simplon and Lausanne, beautifully represented here in the upper cartouche.
