ANTONIO BEATO (1835-1906)/PETER E. BERGHEIM (1813-1895) An album of 27 photographs of Upper Egypt, Nubia, and Palestine, including 21 attributed to Beato and 6 to Bergheim. 1862-75. Comprising views of temples, tombs, mosques, and ruins, but also detail views of obelisks and hieroglyphs. Albumen prints, the images measuring approximately 8⅝x11½ to 10¼x14¼ inches (21.9x29.2 to 26x36.2 cm.), and the reverse, the mounts 16¾x12 inches (42.5x30.5 cm.), those by Beato with a ruled border and captions in French in ink on mount recto, and 19 with Beato's credit and 5 with Bergheim's credit in the negative. Folio, gilt-lettered black morroco; front cover detached.
