One in a series of ads for The New York Journal in which The Yellow Kid appears with a beautiful companion. Hearst combined two of the stellar attractions of the newspaper: the showgirls drawn by Archie Gunn to illustrate articles on the New York musical comedy scene and Outcault's cult favorite, The Yellow Kid. Several images combining the best of both of these artists appeared throughout 1896, as illustrations in the newspaper and as posters. rare.
