Illuminated manuscript Gospels in Armenian on laid paper, written in bolorgir script in black ink, 22 lines, double columns, recto and verso, with initials and chapter openings in red, individual Gospel headings written in erkataghir script in brown and red. illuminated double-page opening in colors in each gospel with three (of 4) full-page evangelist portraits on left and ornamental headpiece and zoomorphic decoration on right; decorated initials and marginal penwork ornaments in colors throughout. 306 (of 307) leaves; lacks leaf 242 (with end of the text of Luke on recto and portrait of John on verso). 172x128 mm, modern black morocco; soiling and light marginal dampstaining through most of volume, upper inner corner of approximately the first 250 leaves restored with text and decoration meticulously supplied at an early date, text and decoration partly obliterated on right side of double-page opening of Gospel of Mark, paper corrosion along edges of last several leaves with traces of mold.
