Additional Details

Later edition, with a new concluding chapter reflecting the end of the American Revolution. Describes the peace terms as "more disadvantageous to Great Britain, than any in their memory" as the Americans "had never yet overpowered us, but who had often been obliged to yield before the superior valour and skill of our commanders" (282). The earlier bookplate reads "Mr. le Cher. Tousard Chevalier de l'ordre de St. Louis et de l'association de Cincinnatus," and is apparently the plate of Louis de Tousard, who had served as an aide to Washington and Lafayette in the American Revolution.
