"Toad will now walk on a high wire, and he will not fall down." Three ink studies on one folio sheet for the story "The Dream" from Lobel's Frog and Toad Together, (New York: Harper & Row, 1972). Pen and ink over graphite, with printed text onlays. 377x557 mm; 15x22 inches (sheet). Unsigned.

The full caption below the 6 1/2x6-inch image on the left of Toad in costume reads " `TOAD WILL NOW WALK ON A HIGH WIRE, AND HE WILL NOT FALL DOWN,' said the voice." The facing page, above two smaller side-by-side illustrations of Frog measuring 3 1/2x5 1/2 inches together reads "Toad walked on the high wire. 'Frog,' cried Toad, `can you do tricks like this?' `No', peeped Frog, who looked very, very small." The pages are marked and numbered 24/25 in pencil and may have been used for the Frog and Toad Coloring Pages series.
