Schwarzman, a graphic designer, illustrator and film maker (in 1982 his docmentary film Genocide won an academy award), moved to Hollywood in 1978, where he went to work for Saul Bass and Associates. In 1982 he was appointed Director of Design for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. He has been doing design work for the Academy Awards since 1996.
