A marvelous allegorical image of a character whose eyes and ears are ingeniously part of the telegraph system, instantaneously receiving and disseminating information. Although very little is know about Aronson, he, along with other Dutch artists like Adriaan Van't Hoff and Kees Van der Laan, was clearly influenced by A.M. Cassandre. Here the central figure is clearly inspired by Cassandre's 1925 poster L'Intransigeant. Half in the sunlight and half at night, the poster heralds the morning and evening editions of the Catholic newspaper, "The Times." The modern Art Deco stylization of the design, the poster's layout and its overall concept make it arguably one of the most progressive images to advertise a religious publication.
