List of Maps shows 7 maps marked by an () that are new to this 1812 edition compared to the preceding 1805 edition - 5 in South America and 2 in Oceania. They replace an equal number of mostly obscure European maps. None of the North American maps have been replaced or updated from the first 1804 edition, except that the oceans here are not delineated with dark lines as in the earlier editions.
