Additional Details

true first edition. Although the list of contents calls for 65 maps, only 63 were issued in the atlas, as Arrowsmith apparently failed to provide Lewis with the plates for England and the Asiatic Isles.

Wheat considers 4 of the maps included in this atlas to be very important and devotes 8 pages to the discussion of them, Louisiana (Wheat 259), British Possessions in America (Wheat 260), Spanish Dominions in North America (Wheat 261) and North America (Wheat 262). See Rumsey 2436, which is technically not a true first.
