Arthur B. Davies began traveling annually to Italy in the 1920s, focusing primarily on scenes of the Northern Italian countryside. Several similar compositions, of Italian pastoral landscapes from the mid-1920s, are in public collections, including at The Museum of Modern Art (accession number 30.1934) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (accession number 31.67.3), New York.
