Additional Details

A charming image of Mother Goose as depicted by Szyk, wearing a fanciful bonnet, fur-edged cape and petticoat, carrying her umbrella, purse, and her thick book of fairy tales, accompanied by a cat and jaunty mouse in a bow tie. In the mid 1940s, Szyk illustrated numerous fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen, published in 1946, and began illustrating Perrault's Mother Goose stories, but that project remained unrealized.
