This image was reproduced on the cover of Tress' title Facing Up, (1980) one of the first male nude fine art publications to be produced by a mainstream publisher. The book was also one of the first that took as its theme documenting the New York sexual underground of the pre-AIDS era. Innovative and introspective, Tress' photographs are rich in fantasy and playfulness, bending observed reality into surreal tableau.
