[273] (of [280]) leaves; lacks a1 (title, replaced with expert facsimile reproduced from 1506 edition) and 2i2-7 (from end matter, including leaf with woodcut of Bloodletting Man). 8vo, later leather with most of contemporary blind-tooled pigskin spine and covers laid down, thong ties; wormholes at beginning and end, some repaired variously affecting text, some light marginal dampstaining, facsimile title soiled, last leaf stained, with early inscriptions. Scarce edition of a compilation of medical texts commonly known by the collective title Articella ("little art" in colloquial Italian, alluding to Galen's Tegni or Ars parva, one of the works included) and widely used as a textbook from the 12th into the early 16th century; the first printed edition appeared circa 1476. The contents of the collection evolved over time. The present edition contains Hunayn ibn Ishaq ("Joannitius"), Isagoge ad Tegni Galeni; Theophilus Protospatharius, De urinis and De pulsibus; the Hippocratic oath; Hippocrates, Prognostica and Aphorismi; Joannes Damascenus, Aphorismi; Aulus Cornelius Celsus, Flosculi medicinales; Galen, Tegni; Avicenna, Liber canonis primus[-quartus] and Cantica; Rhazes, Liber nonus ad Almansorem; and Jacques Desparts, Summula.
