ARTIST UNKNOWN AIR FRANCE / FLYING HOLIDAYS THIS YEAR! Circa 1935.
40x25 inches.
Condition B+: vertical and horizontal folds; creases and restoration in margins.
Air France was formed in 1933 after a merger between Air Orient and a number of other French airlines. Adopting the winged seahorse logo that had belonged to Air Orient, Air France absorbed the former airline's routes through Asia. Unlike almost all other Air France posters, this image is anonymous which is unfortunate, as the graphic of the route map of the airline displayed within the outline of the plane is impressive. It is also unusual that this image is not recorded in the catalogue of the Air France museum, which is supposed to have a complete run of all the company's posters. A rare and unusual Air France poster from early in the company's existence. Not in Air France.
