While some artists working for DAM studios were allowed to sign their designs, they also employed a stable of artists who worked anonymously. They were all quite talented and produced a stream of modernist, Art Deco graphics as well as top-quality photomontage posters, which was rare in France (see Swann Modernist Poster Auction # 2079, lot 44). The attribution on these anonymous posters variously appeared as DAM Studio, DAM Creation Publicitaire or, as in this case, Damour (one of their earliest appellations dating to the late 1920s). The in-house artist who designed this image was clearly influenced by the work of Charles Loupot, in both the layout and the use of soft-edge, almost shimmering lines. With its bold typography, the result here is a strong, eye-catching poster.
