Small folio, original printed wrappers, lightly spotted and edgeworn; mostly unopened; sample titled "Echantillod de Coton vert col de canard sans indigo" (Vol 3, #23, page 177 and described as "experience inachevée") is not present as in other copies and appears to have never been tipped-in. Additional Details

Chevreul's color studies made him one of the most influential scientists in France during the nineteenth century. He taught chemistry and ran the dyeing lab at the Manufactures Royales des Gobelins. Each issue in this set includes the first printed appearance of the lecture notes from his "Cours de teintures des Gobelins."
