Additional Details

first editions of writings by an eccentric astronomer and theologian (1644-1693) who died just before his planned emigration to America with a group of disciples to await the Apocalypse. The first 2 works deal with the calculation of solar and lunar eclipses. The third is a manual for the pair of celestial hemisphere models devised by Zimmermann using an equidistant conic projection derived from Wilhelm Schickard, with stars after Hevelius. Engravings of the hemispheres are sometimes found in later editions but not present in this copy. This edition of the Coniglobium is unknown to zinner and dünnhaupt and unrecorded by vd17 and oclc, which cite none prior to 1704. Dünnhaupt 20, 19 (these editions), 26.1 (1704 edition); Warner, The Sky Explored, page 268; Zinner, Deutsche und niederländische astronomische Instrumente, pages 177 and 596, and plate 63/2.
