first edition of Volumes 1 and 14 of the 15-volume Resultados del Observatorio Nacional Argentino prepared under Gould's supervision. The Uranometria Argentina listed all naked-eye stars visible in the southern sky and confirmed the existence of "Gould's belt" of bright stars tilted at a 20° angle to the plane of the Milky Way; the Argentine General Catalogue recorded the positions of 32,448 stars. Gould was the first director of Argentine National Observatory at Córdoba, which he helped to establish. BEA, pages 433-34; DSB V, 479-80; Palau 106421-106422.
