Neumann began his career around 1913 designing posters and graphic inserts for magazines. Prior to the First World War, he worked briefly in Berlin, and he continued to design posters for various events during the conflict as well. After the war he founded one of Austria's largest advertising agencies, hiring numerous artists and employees. They designed posters, inserts, flyers, brochures and sheet music. Among their largest clients were Mercedes-Benz, Persil and Krupnik's Moden. He fled Austria in 1938, first to London and then settling in Sydney, Australia, where he opened another graphic design company.
