ATLA (DATES UNKNOWN) EBANO / CREMA PER CALZATURE. 1927. 39x26 3/4 inches, 99x68 cm. Alta, Bologna. Condition B+ / A-: sharp creases and abrasions in margins and image. Aside from four posters he designed to advertise Ebano shoe polish, nothing is known about Atla. Of his series for the product, two of the images are strikingly futuristic. Very few futurist posters are known to exist including those designed by Fortunato Depero for Campari, and a handful of others. This vibrant example is an intriguing mix of angles, shadows, caricature, packaging and primary colors. It has a spectacular electric and aero-dynamic quality which makes for an exceptional image, albeit one that transcends the mundane nature of the product advertised. Italian Posters p. 106.
