Rare separate Philadelphia printing of Vol. I of the five volume Edinburgh edition of the text Audubon issued to accompany his elephant folio Birds of America. The first volume is often found alone. Volume II followed in Boston in 1835, and the set was completed with three final volumes of the Edinburgh edition. 16 pages of advertising at the end consist of a prospectus on the folio Birds of America with a list of 100 plates in Vol. I, contemporary reviews of Audubon's work, and a list of early subscribers.
