Canadian-born Austin Cooper was stylistic virtuoso and a prolific artist, whose first commercial venture was a graphic design studio in his native Canada. His highly-pictorial, Art Deco style received widespread public acclaim and he was soon working for many of Britain's finest companies, such as the London Underground, the LNER and the Empire Marketing Board. He worked most extensively for the London Underground starting in 1922, designing 54 posters for them over the span of 22 years.
