Canadian-born Austin Cooper was both a prolific artist (working extensively for the London Underground and Britain's different railway companies) and a stylistic virtuoso. His posters reflect many different design concepts, from the cartoonish to the literal. Cooper began working for the London Underground in 1922 and designed fifty-four posters for them over the span of twenty-two years. Underground p. 63.
