Additional Details

Rome's Accademia di San Luca was officially formed from an earlier guild of painters and miniaturists in 1577. Its aim was to honor the work of architects, painters, and sculptors as art over craft. During the period of this broadside, architect Ferdinando Fuga (1699-1782) led the Accademia.
