American Women's Education, 1860s.
Intellectual Buddings, Manuscript from the Cooper Institute; [and] The Bubble.

Boonville, Missouri, January 1864 [and 1861].

Two manuscripts on lined paper containing funny stories, editorials, riddles, and other work by female students, the first positively identified as the work of Lucy Baskett and Virginia Turner of the Cooper Institute in Boonville, as administered by Reverend X.X. Buckner, the other lacking its title page, but with very similar content, perhaps from another area school, circa 1861; each executed in a variety of hands, the text referring to student life, boys, and other observations on life made by the female contributors, some marginal tears, each approximately 8 x 6 in.
