First edition, octavo, anonymous authorship "by a constant observer" variously attributed to superintendent and acting apothecary Dr. Edward Wright (1788-1859), who emigrated to Australia in 1836, or Dr. John Haslam (1764-1844), also a writer, physician and apothecary at Bethlehem, who famously described James Tilly Matthew's paranoid schizophrenia; ex libris Christopher Pope, with his signature on title; half-title present; bound in modern half calf with marbled paper boards, 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 in.
