This watch was presented to Eugene Cernan by President Richard Nixon during a ceremony for the Apollo XVII crew at the White House in January 1973. An engraving on the reverse side reads: "Capt. E.A. Cernan, USN, Lift Off 12-7-72, 12:33 AM, EST, Splashdown 12-19-72, 2:25 PM, EST, Richard M. Nixon". With Typed Letter Signed by Cernan describing the White House visit.
