Astronaut Karl Henize's Gold NASA Flight Suit. An official NASA late 1960's standard issue gold flight suit worn by Karl Henize. The suit has a 3-inch circular NASA "Meatball" on the right breast and a black velcro base for a name tag on the left. A 4.5-inch blue oval Skylab cloth patch is on the upper left arm. The suit features multiple zippered torso and leg pockets for writing instruments and other flight equipment. An interior white label reads "KARL HENIZE" below the manufacturer tag. This early version of the astronaut flight suit was standard issue during the Skylab Program. Astronauts wore these suits during mission training, T-38 aircraft flights, and various public appearances. Henize trained closely with the Skylab astronauts and actually was the principal investigator for one of the onboard experiments.
