Color pencils on cream wove paper, circa 1930s. 156x115 mm; 6 1/4x4 1/2 inches. Ex-collection Gertrude Stein Gallery, New York, with the printed label on the frame back. A scarce, early drawing by Balthus (1908-2001). The artist is perhaps best-known for his later, monochromatic pencil and charcoal drawings of young female nudes.
