Additional Details

Harrison H. Rountree was a Chicago businessman and friend of Baum, to whom was dedicated his 1898 book, By the Candelabra's Glare; some speculate that his daughter, Dorothy Rountree, may have inspired Baum's Dorothy character from the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and other stories.
