BAZAR DE L'HOTEL DE VILLE-ETRENNES.
85x54 inches. Affiches Misti.
Condition B: paper loss, repaired tears, creases and staining in margins and image; tears and creases along vertical and horizontal folds. Hand signed by the artist in pencil. Framed.
Misti was a prolific and talented poster designer. This rare piece is a tribute to his ability to seduce the public through the charm of his images. Irresistibly mischievious, Misti depicts Santa Claus asleep on a bench and a group of children stealing toys out of his sack. Aside from the absence of Santa's traditional red suit, the colors here also very bright and playful. This was very good advertising for the Bazar de l'Hotel de Ville, one of the oldest department stores in Paris, which still exists today! Previously unrecorded.
