BEATRIX POTTER. "The Cats' Meat Man." Pencil drawing across folded folio sheet, unsigned but annotated in pencil "Rough Sketch. The cats [sic] meat man" in Potter's hand, lower left. 210x286 mm; 8 1/4x11 1/4 inches, image, on cream paper, vertical crease from fold, scattered light foxing, professionally matted and framed with archival acrylic, in brown and gold wood. Not examined out of frame. Circa 1895.

Additional Details

From the estate of the artist's brother, Bertram Potter. This image was a study for a full double-sided cut-out watercolor on board given to Noel Moore in May 1895, the image later revived as "fisher-cart," a line drawing in "The Fairy Caravan" 1929.
