Before inventing the telephone, Bell taught speech to the deaf, opening a school in 1872. Helen Keller was among his pupils. This is his rate card, charging $500 per annum for "Instruction of the deaf in speech, including the general education of very young pupils," and a $500 complete course for "Teachers of of the Deaf and Dumb."
