first edition. Heirs of Hippocrates 1298; Norman 169. With the signature of Elliot Carr Cutler (1888-1947) and an undated one-page ALS on his Lakeside Hospital letterhead to "Dear Bill," presenting this copy as a gift. Cutler performed the first successful heart valve operation (see Garrison-Morton 3030.1) and succeeded Harvey Cushing as Moseley Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
