BELL, PETER; and DURY, ANDREW. Map of the Present Seat of War, between the Russians, Poles, and Turks. Four engraved sheets joined as two, covering the Black Sea, the theater of the Russo-Turkish War of 1768-74. Each sheet approximately 535x1350 mm, ample margins; hand-color in outline, probably original; few small edge tears, one larger one repaired on recto, some superfluous reinforcements on recto. London, [circa 1770]

Additional Details

A dissected and mounted example in the BnF shows that this map can be seamlessly joined with the other Bell and Dury map to create a very large image encompassing the entire theater of combat.

We handled another example of this map in 2010, but other than that have not seen this scarce map on the market.
