Additional Details

A remarkable suite in original wrappers of the "Six New Plates" intended to further illustrate the famous Egyptologist's "Narrative of the Operations and Recent Discoveries within the Pyramids, Temples, Tombs, and Excavations in Egypt and Nubia." The large lithographs, stunning in their beauty, represent a fine pictorial record of the ruins and hieroglyphs of the region which practically no Europeans had yet seen; one plate is particularly telling of the times, as it depicts an event with a drove of men removing the colossal seven-ton bust of Young Memnon or Ramesses II from its original site, soon to be transferred by Belzoni to the British Musuem where it still stands today.
