Additional Details

The Hoover Dam was built during the Great Depression under the aegis of the Bureau of Reclamation, a government agency. Ben Glaha was hired to photograph all aspects of the massive dam's construction. His photographs were used in press releases, periodicals, books, pamphlets, and slide shows to demonstrate that the dam was structurally sound and that federal funds were being used appropriately.
